This is precisely the kind of unreconstructed, wigs and props, comedy title and character cliche revue show that the Nineties Fringe, with its "as seen on TV" straplines, its Big Brother promoters, its cold-blooded competitive atmosphere and inflated ticket prices, is killing.
This is a good amateur show. You remember amateur... it means "lover of". It means "not in it because your agent reckoned it would be a good move, or because you had to be here for three weeks to be eligible for the Perrier". Amateur means eight of you taking time off real life to write some actually quite funny ideas up into sketches, rehearsing them to a creditable tightness with numerous costume and accent changes, deciding on a title that doesn't really describe the show but makes a very gentle comedy sound salacious enough to sell and then taking a couple of weeks off work to come to a Resource Centre in Edinburgh and play to Neil's parents and a reviewer from The Scotsman.
And amateur is what the Fringe was built on. Amateur was the heart of the Fringe. So go see it. Before it is too late.
